Utilising ancient DNA to understand crop population dynamics across a millennium: A case study of archaeological barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) from Gran Canaria, Spain

Archaeological grains of barley (Hordeum vulgare) of different ages, dating back to the 7th century, were sequenced after enriching the DNA using exome capture. The goals of the study was to investigate whether exome capture and NGS could be successfully carried out on the material and to study the long-term dynamics of a single population repeatedly sampled over many centuries.
