One of the ten famous flowers in China, Rhododendron has high ornamental value and broad landscape applications. Rhododendron prefer cool and humid climate, thus its yield and quality are highly restricted by drought stress. To study the response mechanism of Rhododendron to drought stress, we treated Rhododendron SKSZX and Rhododendron TRMG cultivars through natural stress and compared the photosynthetic fluorescence and transcriptomic changes in the leaves at 0 d, 4 d and 8 d of drought treatment. This study provides insight into molecular breeding to improve the drought tolerance of Rhododendron in the future.
