BackgroundThe National Asthma Survey (NAS) is a joint effort between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) and is sponsored by the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH). The National Asthma Survey examines the health, socioeconomic, environmental, and behavioral predictors of asthma control. This survey explores the content of care and health care experiences of people with asthma. Health indicators include , but are not limited to: asthma attacks, asthma education, missed school/work days due to asthma, and prescription use. User FunctionalityUsers can download the survey instrument, methodology report, frequency count, and codebook as PDFs. Users can download the public-access dataset into SAS statistical software. Data Notes Persons over 18 years old or parents or guardians for children under 18 years of age who were most knowledgeable about the child’s health w ere interviewed. The National Asthma Survey was conducted between February 2003 and February 2004 among a national sample. The Four state sample survey was conducted in California, Texas, Illinois, and Alabama between March 2003 and March 2004.
