Amplicon sequencing was performed to identify intra-hand heterogeneity of multiple sites on the hand namely back, interdigits, palm, pulp, and hyponychium. DNA was extracted from each swab sample, and the amplicons of 16S gene and tuf gene were sequenced on MiSeq (2x300 PE) to explore the relative abundances of all bacteria and genus Staphylococcus, respectively.
