Der MuSK ist ein Interviewverfahren für die unterschiedlichen Lebensbereiche, mit dem die Zahl der aktuellen und prinzipiellen Kontaktpartner und ihr Unterstützungs- wie Belastungsgrad erfasst werden. Er wurde nach dem Grundprinzip der Social Network Map von Tracy und Whittaker (1990) konstruiert. Er besteht aus 14 Items und ist in drei Teile unterteilt. Der erste Teil umfasst den "Innenkreis" (Lebensbereiche: 1 Haushalt, 2 Weitere Familie, 3 Arbeit/Bildung, 4 Gute Freunde, 5 Freizeit, 6 Nachbarschaft und 7 Andere), der zweite Teil den "Außenkreis" (grundsätzliche vs. alltägliche Bezugspersonen) und im dritten Teil werden die erfassten Personen in Bezug auf funktionale und belastende Beziehungsaspekte beurteilt. Reliabilität: Mittlere bis hohe Retestreliabilitäten finden sich für die Angaben zur sozialen Unterstützung, Belastung und Zufriedenheit sowie für die Größe des gesamten Netzes. Validität: Haushaltsmitglieder und die weitere Familie werden als wichtigste soziale Ressource genannt. Freunde und sonstige Kontakte sind erwartungsgemäß emotional unterstützend, während Nachbarn oder Arbeitskollegen verstärkt praktische Unterstützung geben. Normen: Es liegen Durchschnittswerte und Cut-off-Werte vor. The MuSK is an interview measure for the different areas of life, with which the number of the current and principal contact partners and their degree of support as well as stress are recorded.
