Rhizobacterial culture collection from Hordeum vulgare Golden Promise and Zea Mays W22 grown in natural Askov soil (DK)

Rhizobacterial culture collection consisting of 364 isolates isolated from Hordeum vulgare var. Golden Promise and Zea Mays var. W22 grown in natural Askov soil that spans the four phyla Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, and Firmicutes.The rhizospheres of the barley and maize plants were harvested at seven weeks post-germination. The root section directly beneath the seed was harvested and excess soil particles were removed. Roots were shaken vigorously in sterile water and the remaining soil sludge was diluted two million times in tryptic soy broth or yeast extract medium. Media was transferred to 96-wells plates and pure bacterial cultures were isolated at seven at fourteen days post harvest.The 364 culture collection is the non-redundant set of these extraction methods. These isolates were subjected to WGS using the Illumina WGS protocol. Nextera adapters were trimmed with cutadapt.
