Influence of soil type and vertical zonation on fungal communities associated with natural jack pine forests in esker ecosystems

Our objective is to explore soil fungal diversity within natural jack pine forests in esker ecosystems, and how soil type and vertical zonation would shape their fungal communities. To achieve this goal, we compared chemical properties and fungal communities characterized by eDNA metabarcoding across soil horizons, namely in the litter, organic and mineral horizons, between natural jack pine forests established in esker and clayey soils.
