Analyses of porcine faecal metavirome to elucidate evolutionary relationships of viruses

Screening the biological specimens of pigs by metagenomic approach can identify a pool of diverse viruses harboured or excreted by the animal host. Swine metavirome analyses can help to know the genetic relatedness among viruses, and also help to study the viral evolution. Exploring the genetic diversity of swine viruses in various microenvironments may prove to be useful to develop and/or refine diagnostic protocols, and may also help to formulate suitable control strategies.
