C, N, & P content in ponderosa pine and red turpentine beetles. Sapwood and phloem samples were weighed, freeze-dried for 72h using a Freezone benchtop freeze-dry system (Labconco Corp. Kansas City, MO, USA), and macerated (fungal and nutrient samples only) using a Tube Mill (IKA Works Inc. Wilmington, NC, USA). Analysis of C, N, and P occurred at the University of Montana’s Flathead Lake Biological Field Station Analytical Laboratory, Polson, MT, USA (supplementary information).
