In this study we found that high intake of rye instead of wheat promotes the growth ofbeneficial intestinal bacteria accompanied by poorer growth conditions for this foodborne pathogen.Thanks to this porcine model, conclusions could be drawn about the influence of such dietarymeasures on intestinal microbiota in sections of the gastrointestinal tract that are otherwise difficultor impossible to achieve in human studies
