Meteorological data, Nyong, Cameroon

This data set contains the data related to (1) daily rainfall (RFm; mm/d), (2) daily air temperature (Tmin, Tmax, Tmean; °C), daily air relative humidity (Hummean; %), mean wind speed (Vwind; m/s) and mean wind direction (Dirwind; °), instant (GRinstant; kW/m2) and cumulative (Grcumul; kJ/m2) global radiation, and potential evapotranspiration (PETday; mm/d). The rainfall data are available for the year 1991 and since 1994. All other weather data are available since 2004. Weather data are only collected in the Nsimi SEW.

Methods: Weather data are acquired using an automated weather station (Campbell until 2011; Vantage Pro2 from 2012 to 2017; OTT since 2018). The potential evapotranspiration is calculated using the Penman equation which estimates evaporation by combining the energy balance with the mass transfer method, using the daily mean saturated vapor pressure, the daily net radiation, and a correction factor for the effect of wind.
The daily rainfall is obtained through a network of 11 rainfall gauges distributed over the watershed. The daily rainfall is calculated using the classical Thiessen method to account for the influence area of each rain gauge. An automatic rain gauge is installed on the weather station for verification purposes.
