The Cold Operable Lunar Deployable Arm (COLDArm)project is developing an experimental robotic arm with the goalof demonstrating cold-operable actuators and sensors in a lunartechnology demonstration, saving energy and mass over con-ventionally heated systems. To support this goal, the JPL teamdeveloped new flight software and avionics to demonstrate keyfunctional manipulation capabilities. Drawing on the successfulIngenuity Mars Helicopter, significant avionics and softwareelements were leveraged as a starting point and modified to suitthe needs of COLDArm.
