Investigation of the magnetic properties of NiBr 2 and other transition metal dihalides on bulk Bi2Se3

The main objective of the proposed experiment is to measure magnetic properties of single layers of the transition metal dihalides NiBr2, CoBr2 and NiCl2 epitaxially grown on Bi2Se3 vdW substrate. Thus, we intend to check possible modification of the magnetic properties due to the size effect or moire reconstruction that was observed in LEED /STM experiments previously (see Fig 1). These data will complement our ARPES data for the CoBr2/Bi2Se3, NiBr2/Bi2Se3 and NiCl2/Bi2Se3 samples and will be used to finish the investigation of the effect of magnetic overlayers on the electronic properties of the surface states of the TI Bi2Se3 in the vdW epitaxial heterostructures of CoBr2/Bi2Se3, NiBr2/Bi2Se3 and NiCl2/Bi2Se3.
