Lithology-Dependent Thermal Memory Controls on Frictional Strength and Rate-Dependent Stability in Fault Gouge

This dataset accompanies the manuscript “Lithology-Dependent Thermal Memory Controls on Frictional Strength and Rate-Dependent Stability in Fault Gouge.” It includes experimental sliding-friction data for thermally preconditioned granite, sandstone, and shale gouges tested under different normal stresses and velocity-step sequences. The dataset also contains X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) data used to characterize the mineralogical and geochemical composition of the gouges. MATLAB codes used to process the experimental data and generate the figures presented in the manuscript are also provided.
