Survey on Achievements in School for Hearing Impaired Pupils - Questionaire

Skådalen competence center (Statped) received in 2008 a commission by the Directorate of Education to determine how hearing impaired children are doing in school. Statistics Norway (SSB) was commissioned to collect birth and social security number of the current student group from hearing centers. The proejct also included the connection of character data and selected background information from registers and sending out questionnaires to parents and contact teachers for primary school students.

It was decided to conduct a census of children and young people born between 1.1.1989-31.12.2002, diagnosed with hearing impairment (simplex or duplex) or who were deaf. In addition, the children and young people should have been recommended a hearing aid technology (hearing aid or cochlear implant) and/or use sign language. This group is fully registered with hearing centers in Norway.

For those who were born between 1.1.1989-31.12.1993, it was decided to only implement a register-based character collection (registry group). For the second group, born 1.1.1994-31.12 2002 should conduct a questionnaire survey combined with register data (survey group).
