Antarctic PaleoBath: Antarctic paleo depth grids

Antarctic PaleoBath: Antarctic paleo depth grids dataset contains open-access computational grid data and images illustrating the changing bathymetry (depth) and evolution of the circum-Antarctic ocean crust from 52 million years ago (Ma) to 5 Ma. Images of paleo-basement depth profiles at selected times between 45 Ma and the present across the Tasman Gateway and Drake Passage are included in the dataset.
A revised dataset of seafloor spreading isochrons and updated plate tectonic reconstructions is used to produce paleo-age and bathymetry (depth) grids for the Southern Ocean. The paleo-depth maps illustrate the evolution of the ocean basins (widening and deepening) and oceanic gateway development surrounding Antarctica. The digital grids provide improved boundary conditions for palaeoceanographic circulation models as well as for backtracking sediments from ODP drilling.
