资源简介:

3D scan of a roman oil lamp that was found in Köstendsché, Romania. This lamp was made in the younger Iron age (2nd century AD) and came to the Natural History Museum Vienna in 1892.

The oil lamp here is representative of many Roman achievements that also
made life more comfortable in the Roman provinces: bricks for building
houses, sewers and water pipes, the construction of roads and cities
with houses made of stone. The Romans created a world empire that was a superpower by today’s
standards. The Roman Empire had its greatest expansion under Emperor
Trajan in 117 A.D. It stretched from Scotland to Nubia and from Portugal
to Mesopotamia. The oil lamp has a cross-shaped decoration. Symbols of the early
Christians such as crosses and fishes originated as secret signs in
times of persecution. They were placed on everyday objects, such as
jewellery, lamps, vessels or as grave signs.
