Summary Reporting System (SRS) - Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted (LEOKA)

This data serves two primary purposes: (1) to report the number of employees in each law enforcement agency, categorized by sworn officers and civilian employees, as well as by sex; and (2) to track the number of officers assaulted or killed each month.

Employee counts are reported annually, providing agency-level totals without intra-year fluctuations. Assault data includes details on shift type (e.g., alone, with a partner, on foot, in a vehicle), the offender’s weapon, and the type of call (e.g., robbery, disturbance, traffic stop). Fatality data distinguishes between felonious deaths (i.e., murders) and accidental deaths.
