A Multi-Locus Molecular Dataset for Resolving Phylogenetic Relationships within the Genus AnophelesThis research provides a comprehensive molecular dataset to infer the evolutionary relationships among the four most speciose subgenera of the genus Anopheles: Anopheles, Cellia, Nyssorhynchus, and Kerteszia. These groups are of high public health relevance due to their role in malaria transmission.The dataset is comprised of aligned sequences from three gene markers: the mitochondrial Cytochrome Oxidase I (COI), and the nuclear 28S rRNA and Internal Transcribed Spacer 2 (ITS2). These sequences were utilized to perform phylogenetic analyses using both individual markers and a combined (concatenated) dataset to improve resolution and topological consistency. The final, curated, and aligned sequences presented here are ready for further bioinformatic analysis.
