This study revealed that paper mulberry with high CP content and low NDF and ADF content could be potentially used as high quality protein source for animals. However, paper mulberry was difficult to ensile, mainly because there were few desirable LAB such as Lactobacillus, Enterococcus and Pediococcus on fresh paper mulberry, and presence of the harmful bacteria (Enterobacter) in paper mulberry silage. WSC, NH3-N, PA, pH and LA were the main affecting factor on bacterial community of paper mulberry silage. In future, we will focus on distribution of epiphytic LAB, and subsequently effects on silage fermentation of paper mulberry
