Microbiota diversity of the gastrointestinal tract of two populations of the greater-sage grouse

This study investigates the microbiota diversity in the gastrointestinal tract of the greater-sage grouse. This avian species is regarded as a specialist folivore; capable of subsisting on a diet of chemically-defended plants. We assess the effects of habitat variability over broad spatial scales to understand if the diversity and composition of complex microbial communities are static or exhibit some degree of plasticity under differing environmental/diet conditions.
