Local Climate Zone LCZ
Local Climate Zones (LCZs) are an urban classification system that classifies urban areas into distinct local climates based on morphological and land cover characteristics. More details at https://www.cittametropolitana.mi.it/Territori_resilienti/TERRITORI/index.html. A first version of LCZ in Ferrara was implemented by Politecnico di Milano as part of the AIRBREAK project. This dataset will be used as the basic level to provide statistics on the average temperature of the Earth's surface and other indices. - The layer was generated by Politecnico di Milano during the AIR BREAK project from building height data (source regional topographic database), sky view factor (SVF – digital model source of surfaces 1m Ministry of Environment), albedo (or reflectance of urban materials, which depends mainly on colour) and vegetation (classified according to a spectral vegetation index, i.e. the NDVI). Local climate zones (LCZs) are a concept introduced by Stewart and Oke (I. D. Stewart & Oke, 2012; I. Stewart & Oke, 2011). The main objective of the LCZ system is to allow a standardized selection of urban sites with respect to the intensities of Urban Heat Island (UHI) in relation to homogeneous characteristics in terms of urban morphology and urban materials. The system is applicable to most cities and is intended for urban temperature studies using thermal sensors normally positioned about 2 meters above the ground. The LCZ system classifies the urban-rural landscape into 17 "built" and seven "soil cover" classes.
(I. D. Stewart & Oke, 2012; I. Stewart & Oke, 2011)。
