Painting Country: Learning to (re)present Indigenous Knowledge through Contemporary Indigenous Art

This research explores how Aboriginal representation in Western art history can be reclaimed through acts of re-presentation. Drawing on Indigenous ways of knowing and methods like kapati, the project challenges colonial visual frameworks and asserts Blak presence on Blak terms. Through painting, critical analysis, and personal narrative, it seeks to shift power back to Aboriginal voices in both the making and reception of art.
