资源简介:
Samples from the Bird Canyon Site (48SU390) north of LaBarge, Wyoming, were
examined for pollen and macrofloral remains. This site is a multi-component site with three
cultural components, all representing occupation during the terminal portion of the Late
Prehistoric Period (Firehole Phase). Radiocarbon dating of the middle component yielded an
age of 100 ± 60 BP. Approximately one meter of stratigraphic sediments was examined for
pollen to produce a paleoenvironmental record of this area during the recent past. All three
cultural components are represented within the stratigraphic record. In addition, pollen samples
were examined from Features 10, 11, and 12, and from groundstone washes to provide
information concerning plants that might have been processed. Seven macrofloral samples from
the features also were examined to augment the subsistence record.
