Salmonella Kentucky has emerged as an important agent of human non-typhoidal Salmonella infection, which has been largely associated with global dissemination of a single sequence type (ST198) exhibiting ciprofloxacin resistant phenotype. There has been paucity of epidemiological information regarding the endemicity of S. Kentucky ST198 in Asia where the disease is commonly found. Here we performed whole-genome sequencing of S. Kentucky from humans, chickens and goats in Northern India and provided insights into the animal reservoirs and transmissions of this clinically important pathogen.
