This project employs high-throughput sequencing of the ITS region to characterize the fungal diversity and community composition in soil samples collected from hospital environments across 13 provinces in China. Hospital soil serves as a potential reservoir for pathogenic and opportunistic fungi. The primary goals of this study are to: 1) investigate the geographical distribution patterns of soil fungal communities in Chinese hospitals; 2) identify key environmental factors shaping these communities; and 3) screen for the presence of potentially clinically relevant fungal taxa. Our findings will provide a foundational dataset for understanding the environmental microbiome in healthcare settings and may contribute to public health risk assessment.Keywords: Fungal diversity, High-throughput sequencing, Hospital environment, Soil microbiome, ITS region, China.
