资源简介:

This dataset contains microthermometric measurement data from primary fluid inclusions hosted in lake bottom-growth halites collected from core samples across the Bridger Basin (Wyoming) and Piceance Creek Basin (Colorado). These data provide quantitative paleotemperature constraints during the Early Eocene Climatic Optimum (EECO). The dataset includes physical dimensions, observed homogenization temperatures (Th_obs), and surface-tension-corrected paleotemperatures (Th_inf) for 1,510 individual fluid inclusions measured across six drill cores: Shell 23X-2, Colorado 28-1, Nielsen 17-1, Savage 24-1, Federal A-1, and Finley 2. The dataset also includes a column indicating which samples were ignored from statistics due to quality control checks (as described in the companion manuscript). The dataset contains the following metadata and measurement variables: Sample ID: Unique sample identifier. CRC Core ID: USGS Core Research Center ID or designated core repository reference number. Core Name: Name of the drill core source (Shell 23X-2, Colorado 28-1, Nielsen 17-1, Savage 24-1, Federal A-1, Finley 2). Depth_ft / Depth_m: Sample collection depth in feet and converted meters. Basin: Sedimentary basin location (Piceance Creek Basin or Bridger Basin). Crystal ID: Individual crystal/cleavage chip identifier. inclusion id: Fluid inclusion designation within the specified crystal chip. side1 microns / side2 microns / avg sidelength microns: Measured physical dimensions of the fluid inclusion cavity in micrometers volume microns3: Calculated fluid inclusion volume in cubic microns Th_obs degC: Raw observed fluid inclusion homogenization temperature in degrees Celsius Th_inf degC: Infinite-size/corrected true trapping temperature derived from microthermometric inclusion behavior in degrees Celsius Ignore from stats: Boolean flag (True/False) indicating whether the inclusion was excluded from statistical synthesis (e.g., due to stretching, leakage, or optical edge distortion). This dataset supports the manuscript submitted to Earth and Planetary Science Letters (EPSL): Elevated Eocene terrestrial temperatures from fluid inclusions in lake basin halite Authors: William D. Arnuk, Tim K. Lowenstein, Alan R. Carroll, M. Elliot Smith, Emmanuel Guillerm, Yves Krüger, A. Nele Meckler, Robin B. Trayler.
