This project was conducted to investigate the association between prostate cancer and gut flora in Japanese men. Rectal swabs of 152 Japanese men with suspected prostate cancer were sampled. The samples were suspended in phosphate buffered saline and the bacterial DNA was extracted from the suspension using DNeasy Power Soil Kit (Qiagen). Amplicons targeting the V1-V2 variable regions of 16S rRNA gene were generated,and a 251-bp paired-end sequencing of the amplicons was performed, using a MiSeq (Illumina).
