This is an open access photographic dataset collected for testing image processing algorithms. The idea is to have sets of different but statistically similar images. The images show randomly distributed peppercorns.
The dataset consists of ten high-resolution black and white images of peppercorn in TIFF file format. Documentation of the dataset is available at arxiv.org/abs/1603.01046. See also www.fips.fi/photographic_dataset.php.
Example usage in Matlab:
im = imread('Peppercorn_1.tif');
im = double(im); % Converting to floating point data
The data is collected at the Industrial Mathematics Laboratory of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of University of Helsinki.
