Low resolution whole genome sequences of Sharp-tailed Grouse (Tympanuchus phasianellus) and Lesser Prairie-Chicken (Tympanuchus pallidicinctus)

Low resolution whole genome sequences sequenced on the Oxford Nanopore MinION sequencing platform. These samples are from three different populations of Sharp-tailed Grouse: Columbian Sharp-tailed Grouse (T. phasianellus columbianus; 12 samples), plains Sharp-tailed Grouse (T. phasianellus jamesi;12 samples), and a population with unknown subspecies in southcentral Wyoming (unknown Sharp-tailed Grouse; 13 samples). These sequences also include 2 Lesser Prairie-Chicken samples (Tympanuchus pallidicinctus). The goal of this study was to evaluate subspecies status of the unknown Sharp-tailed Grouse populations by comparing single nucleotide variants of the 2 known subspecies populations to the unknown population to identify which population the unknown population is related to. We used the Lesser Prairie-Chicken samples as an outgroup.
