APP_ PluMu analysis. Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae-PluMu

The phage prediction software Phaster predicted the presence of and likelihood of active production of Mu-like phages in the genomes of two Cypriot clinical isolates of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (MIDG3457 and MIDG 3459). A. pleuropneumoniae is a major pig pathogen with no active phage previously described. We have named the phages PluMu 3457 and PluMu 3459. They are closely related to but different from other known active Mu-like phages. Both phages are active as suggested by molecular biological approaches, and transmission electron microscopy identified Mu-like phages in MIDG3459. Here we deposit the nucleotide sequences of PluMu 3457 and PluMu 3459 as identified by Phaster.
