In vitro effects of chlorpyrifos-methyl and pirimiphos-methyl on Atlantic salmon liver cells

Adjuvants are included in pesticide formulations to improve the performance of the active agent and can thus contribute to alteration of the toxicity of pesticides detected in aquafeeds. To investigate to which extent the adjuvant piperonylbutoxide may affect the toxicity of the organophosphorus pesticides chlorpyrifos-methyl (CPM) and pirimiphos-methyl (PPM), 3D Atlantic salmon liver cells were exposed to single or mixtures of these compounds. Cytotoxicity, transcriptomics, proteomics and lipidomics analysis were used to assess toxicity.
