This metadata entry refers to measurements of oceanic organosulfur compounds made by Sue Turner; halocarbons, carbonyl sulphide, carbon disulphide and isoprene by R.M. Moore; aerosol trace metals by Laura Yun Wang; aerosols by Lucinda Spokes; and nitric oxide, nitrous oxide and ozone by Jonathon James during the Challenger 127 research cruise on Porcupine Bank in the North Atlantic as part of the Atmospheric Chemistry Studies in the Oceanic Environment (ACSOE) project. The cruise began on 6th June 1996 and ended on 4th July 1996 with a spatial coverage of +52N to +54N latitude and +10W to +14W longitude. The data consists of: -92 measurements of the concentration of dissolved dimethylsulphoniopropionate (DMSP) per unit volume of the water column by Millipore prefiltration and gas chromatography; -98 measurements of the concentration of particulate dimethylsulphoniopropionate (DMSP) per unit volume of the water column by Millipore prefiltration and gas chromatography; -403 measurements of the concentration of dimethyl sulphide (DMS) per unit volume of the water column by Millipore prefiltration purging, cryogenic trapping and gas chromatography; -403 measurements of the steady-state flux of dimethyl sulphide (DMS) per unit time per unit area of the water column to atmosphere by purging, cryogenic trapping and gas chromatography and calculation from DMS concentration and shipboard wind speed; -18 measurements of oceanic halocarbons - methyl halides (methyl bromide, methyl chloride and methyl iodide) by GC-MS; -18 measurements of carbonyl sulfide and carbon disulfide by GC-MS; -18 measurements of isoprene by GC-MS; -continuous measurements of atmospheric nitric oxide (NO), nitrous oxide (NO2) and ozone (O3) by Scintrex and API 200 series Chemiluminescent analyser; -12 measurements of aerosol trace metals -57 measurement of aerosol by ion chromatography See below for further details.
