Diurnal variation of cellullar populations in mouse tongue epithelium

We employed single-cell sequencing using 10x Genomics scRNA-seq to investigate circadian variations in cellular populations within the mouse tongue epithelium. This study demonstrates that circadian clock-regulated cell divisions lead to diurnal fluctuations in the population of type II taste cells in the tongues of nocturnal animals like mice. Tongue epithelial cells were isolated from male B57BL/6 mice at two distinct circadian time points (ZT0 and ZT12) and analyzed via scRNA-seq.
