GIST provides a comprehensive SDG impact dataset of 14000+ listed companies, with SDG impacts calculated based on 300+ metrics across key Natural, Human and Financial Capital KPIs.

GIST’s science and economics-based methodology allows you to understand the real impacts of a company’s business operations, products and services on each of the 17 SDGs. We capture quantitative data on all the positive and negative impacts generated by company activities - both planned and unplanned - and measure those impacts in $ terms, which provides a common yardstick.

This is substantially differentiated from other SDG datasets on the market which capture only the ‘expected’ or ‘planned’ effects of a company on the environment - measuring intention rather than actual impact.

For certain SDGs, we are also able to provide additional sector-specific or region-specific impact data which takes into account specific environmental, ecological, population and socioeconomic factors that affect the size of the impact on an SDG.

Use Case:

GIST’s Sustainability data can be used to evaluate a company’s impacts across each of the 17 SDGs, allowing investors to get a full picture of the company’s SDG performance, including what is material and immaterial, and integrate this into portfolio decision-making.

As an example - an investor evaluating a waste collection and disposal company might expect a positive contribution to SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production - but this company also has material positive and negative impacts on 6 additional SDGs based on its actual business activities. GIST’s SDG data provides the full picture of this company’s impacts, as well as the relative size of positive or negative impact on each SDG (which is based on scientific and economic modelling, and measured in $ terms).
