It is essential to generate a large transcriptome dataset for marker discovery to facilitate the marker assisted early selection and shorten breeding procedures in tea.By using high-throughput Illumina RNA-seq, a C. sinensis floral transcriptome was analyzed. A total of 26.9 million clean reads averaging 75 bp were assembled de novo into 75,531 unigenes averaging 402 bp. Subsequently, we detected simple sequence repeats (SSRs) in transcriptome and developed thousands of candicated SSR primers for use in future genetic studies by perl scripts.
