Essays on Corporate Risk Management

This thesis explores how companies manage corporate risks. First, it examines how firms use derivative strategies with speculative motives, showing that companies issuing management earnings forecasts are more likely to engage in speculative derivatives. Second, it examines how firms manage cybersecurity risks, demonstrating that companies respond to cyberattacks by redirecting efforts toward cybersecurity technologies and actively restructuring their workforce.
