Supplementary data for the article: Delineating the Embodied CO2 Emissions in Canada's Exports: Routes, Drivers, and Paths

This repository provides the supplementary data to the paper titled "Delineating the Embodied CO2 Emissions in Canada's Exports: Routes, Drivers, and Paths", submitted to the Journal of Industrial Ecology.

The datasets contain input-output tables and sectoral carbon emission inventories for consecutive years 2000-2018.

The input-output tables for the period 2000-2014 were obtained from the WIOD database (https://www.rug.nl/ggdc/valuechain/wiod/wiod-2016-release), and the input-output tables for the period 2015-2018 were sourced from the ADB database (https://kidb.adb.org/mrio). The sectoral CO2 emissions from fuel combustion inventories (2020 edition) were derived from the IEA database (https://www.iea.org/data-and-statistics/data-sets). The following operations were performed on the original data: 

(1) WIOT conversion for 2010 constant price. See Supporting Information S1.docx for the method.

(2) Consolidation of sectors. The 56 sectors of WIOT and the 35 sectors of ADB-MRIO were merged into 20 sectors to align with the IEA emissions inventory. See Supporting Information S1.docx for sector matching methods.

(3) Region Consolidation. The 63 regions of ADB-MRIO were merged into 44 regions to align with WIOT.
