Halobacteriovorax sp. BALOs_7 Genome sequencing and assembly. Halobacteriovorax sp. BALOs_7

Halobacteriovorax is halophilic genus of the obligate bacterial predators, Bdellovibrio and like organisms (BALOs). One type strain and four non-type strain genomes have been published so far from the genus Halobacteriovorax. The 16S rDNA sequence of BALOs 7 is 92.4% identical to that of Halobacteriovorax litoralis JS5T, followed by Halobacteriovorax marinus SJT (90.78%), which indicates that strain BALOs 7 is a new species of BALOs. Comparative genomic sequence analysis between strain BALOs 7 and other strains of BALOs from different environments will provide further insight into the predatory mechanism and allow a more comprehensive characterization of the predatory bacteria.
