NRS-21496 | Register of Surgical Operations [Blacktown Hospital]

This series contains the details of surgical operations performed at Blacktown Hospital.The registers in this series cover multiple operating theatres. The operating theatres moved to the current hospital in the year 2000 where there are eight theatres, but generally only four-five were in use at any one time. Theatre one is used for endoscopy cases only.The registers record: date, operating theatre number, serial number, ward, anaesthetist, type of anaesthetic, surgeon in charge, surgical procedure, time taken, surgeon, assistants, registered nurse and remarks. Information recorded about the patient includes their first name, last name, date of birth and medical record number.Each volume is printed with a register template and was filled in by hand. The volumes are arranged by the operating theatre, containing either one or two theatres, and are arranged chronologically with a sequential running number. The running number is recorded under the heading 'serial number'.
