资源简介:
One eminent advantage of the TSWV delivery system is its potentially broad applicability. TSWV has an unuasually large host range, reportedly covering many nightshades, cucurbits, crucifers, legumes, fiber (e.g., cotton, and sunn hemp) and oil crops (e.g., rapeseed, peanuts, sunflower, castor bean, and sesame), orphan crops (e.g., ground cherry, quinoa, and cowpea), medicinal plants, and numerous ornamental species in the amaryllis, balsam, begonia, composite, lily, orchid, and pink (carnation) families etc. (Parrella et al., 2003). Our data showcased its utilities by demonstrating efficient delivery in various Solanaceae crop species and peanut. More work is needed to address other amenable host species. It is anticipated that adaptation of the strategy to numerous TSWV strains or related viruses in the Tospoviridae family can further expand the applicable host spectrum. Importantly, our data showed that the TSWV-based delivery system is largely host-genotype independent, offering opportunities to directly install desired modifications in elite varieties for accelerated accelerating crop breeding.
