Google Earth validation dataset (GEVD)

The GEVD comprises 35 Sentinel-2 multispectral images, along with their corresponding 10-meter resolution surface water fraction maps (each sized 500 × 500 pixels). The surface water fraction maps were generated through manual labeling of 1-meter resolution Google Earth images that were temporally close to the Sentinel-2 acquisitions. These high-resolution water masks were then spatially aggregated to 10-meter water fraction maps, serving as ground truth for validating the accuracy of sub-pixel surface water mapping derived from Sentinel-2 imagery.
