Metagenomic analysis of the effects of AgNPs adnchiral antibiotics on microorganisms in activated sludge

This study investigates the impact of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and chiral antibiotics (levofloxacin and oxfloxacin) on the microbial communities of activated sludge using metagenomic sequencing. By analyzing microbial taxonomic composition, functional gene abundance, and antibiotic resistance gene (ARG) profiles, we explore how AgNPs and antibiotics interact to influence microbial ecology. The results provide insights into the selective pressure exerted by these contaminants, the potential mechanisms of microbial adaptation, and the ecological risks associated with AgNP-antibiotic co-contamination.
