Overview This hosted feature layer provides point locations for colleges and universities in Rhode Island. It supports statewide reference, basic geographic analysis, and thematic mapping of post-secondary education facilities. This hosted feature layer has been published in RI State Plane Feed NAD 83. Data Content The layer includes organization identifiers, school names, address information, location coordinates, and source attributes that support identification and geocoded placement of each institution. Source and Compilation The dataset was created by Brown University Library as part of the Ocean State Spatial Database (OSSDB) project using school directory address information from the Rhode Island Department of Education and the Rhode Island Department of Transportation E911 Sites Address Locator. It contributes updated content to the Rhode Island Geographic Information System (RIGIS) data repository.
