资源简介:
This volume contains half-yearly examination results and is arranged chronologically. Pupils are listed in classes with their ages. The teacher's name is also given and the date at which they took control of the class. Uniform stationery provided columns to calculate total marks and place in class, with columns for remarks on individual pupils and to illustrate the types of questions set in examinations. Student marks were recorded for the following subjects: Reading, Composition, Spelling, Writing, Arithmetic, English and Social Studies. The inside cover of the volume also has a list of guidelines for teachers to follow when they are administering examinations. The list includes the following stipulations: all classes must have half-yearly examinations and these examinations must be finished by June and November respectively; the nature of the test and if possible, the questions, should be recorded; the names of pupils should be arranged alphabetically; those pupils absent from an examination should be tested as soon as possible; and the record should be signed by both the examiner and the class teacher. This list of directives also stresses the importance of the pupils' written work above all else. The neatness of the written work and the standard of the writing are considered to be strong indicators of the tone of the class and of the teacher’s control.  The record of results is described as being of great importance to both the teacher and the inspector: 'The teacher will learn from it the general result of his teaching and the development of individual pupils. The inspector will take it into account in estimating the general management of the school and the work of the class teacher.'
