Seven newly assembled genomes of Camelina sativa using Oxford Nanopore sequencing

Camelina sativa, an oilseed crop in the Brassicaceae family, has garnered renewed attention for its exceptional potential in sustainable agriculture, due to its stress resilience, its high omega-3 fatty acid content and its potential use as a biofuel crop. Here, we present a high-quality mini-pangenome for C. sativa, incorporating seven newly assembled genomes based on oxford nanopore sequencing and four publicly available genomes. The new assemblies showed very high quality metrics when assessed using longest Alignment Index (LAI), Completeness of Reference Assemblies with Quality (CRAQ) and BUSCO gene completeness. Five of these genomes were anchored by their own Hi-C data to their respective chromosomes to allow an independent assessment of structural variations. This mini-pan-genome provides a building block in understanding the full genomic potential of C. sativa
