A masonry storage cist at Clinging Cliff Granary (5RB3288) was sampled by
collecting pieces of mud joint that should have been exposed to the contents of
the cist and washing them in the laboratory to recover pollen adhering to the
surface of the mud that was exposed to the cist's contents. Loose floor fill
from the bottom of a masonry storage cist at Tres Monadas Cave (5RB3180) was
examined for pollen. In both instances, pollen analysis focused on the potential
for recovering evidence of economic plants, and in particular domesticated
plants, such as corn, beans, and squash.
