Georeferenced soil mound dataset from an experimental zinc phosphide field trial against the montane water vole in Northwestern Spain

This dataset contains the georeferenced locations of freshly formed soil mounds produced by the montane water vole (Arvicola scherman) during a field experiment evaluating the efficacy of zinc phosphide bait under field conditions in Galicia (northern Spain) in 2024. The experiment was conducted within a 6,000 m² fenced enclosure established inside a pasture experiencing a high-density vole outbreak. The enclosure was divided into three adjacent 2,000 m² subplots corresponding to: (i) mechanized application of zinc phosphide wheat bait (RTAx), (ii) manual application of zinc phosphide wheat bait (RTBx), and (iii) an untreated control (RTCx). Each mound was georeferenced using a STONEX S900A RTK-GNSS receiver. Only observations obtained with a fixed RTK solution and an estimated positional error below 5 cm were retained. Under RTK conditions (<30 km from the reference station), the receiver provides a nominal positioning accuracy of 5 mm + 1 ppm RMS horizontally and 10 mm + 1 ppm RMS vertically.
