Comparative transcriptome analysis of in vitro systems of Nardostachys jatamansi

Nardostachys jatamansi is a critically endangered high value medicinal plant belonging to alpine and sub-alpine regions of the Himalayas. The plant is famous nationally and internationally for its diverse medicinal properties attributed to the active compounds present in its roots and rhizomes. Therefore, the project was carried out to identify the genes involved in the biosynthesis of different secondary metabolites in in vitro systems (Root and leaf callus, in vitro leaves, and roots) of N. jatamansi. The outcome of this study can help in the manipulation of pathway genes for the production of specific metabolites and also contribute towards its conservation.
