Pergamos: NKUA's Unified Institutional Repository & Digital Library Platform

Pergamos is the Unified Institutional Repository & Digital Library Platform of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). It has the ability to host any material, whether born digital or digitized, that is either owned and associated with our Institution or produced by the NKUA academic community. The material hosted by Pergamos, is organised in collections, that, depending on its content, may have an administrator or curator from the staff of respective NKUA units that are related to the collection (who are responsible for the content of the collection they curate). This ensures that compliance with the relevant guidelines or regulations that may govern or affect the content is achieved. In this respect, Pergamos comprises a large set of heterogeneous digital collections ranging from research and educational output (articles, papers, books, datasets, presentations, etc.) produced by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens researchers, faculty and staff, to theses and dissertiations produced by NKUA's students, as well as extending to collections of archival, historical or cultural value. More specifically, Pergamos boasts of more than 10 collections of diverse content, covering almost the entire thematic range of NKUA's Schools, while the total number of digital items reaches approximately 1,000,000 digital objects. The description of the digital material is based on the Dublin Core metadata standard while the description of the archive material isbased upon the ISAD (G) standard. In each case and depending on the needs of the material, additions have been made to the description of the material either with the Dublin Core (DC qualified schema) specifications or with fields of local use and importance. Pergamos implements the OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) metadata harvesting protocol, which makes its content searchable by various international websites, harvesters and search engines that support the OAI protocol, in excess of the more or less well known internet search engins (like Google, Bing, etc). In addition, Pergamos' metadata are compatible with the Europeana Data Model (EDM) standard for platform interoperability with the Europeanana European Digital Library. Moreover, Pergamos supports an open REST / JSON API for third-party hardware interoperability.

就此而言，Pergamos拥有海量异构数字馆藏集，内容覆盖范畴广泛：从NKUA教研人员产出的研究与教育成果（包括期刊文章、学术论文、专著、数据集、演示文稿等），到该校学生撰写的学位论文，还包括具有档案、历史或文化价值的各类馆藏。
具体而言，Pergamos目前拥有十余类内容多元的馆藏集，几乎覆盖NKUA各学院的全部主题范畴，平台内数字素材总量已达约100万件。
数字素材的元数据描述采用都柏林核心（Dublin Core）元数据标准，档案类素材的元数据描述则遵循ISAD(G)标准。针对各类素材的具体需求，平台还可基于都柏林核心限定模式（Dublin Core Qualified Schema）或本地常用字段对元数据描述进行扩展。
Pergamos支持OAI-PMH（开放档案倡议元数据收割协议，Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting）元数据收割功能，可使平台内容被各类支持OAI协议的国际网站、收割工具及搜索引擎检索，其中包括谷歌、必应等主流互联网搜索引擎。
此外，Pergamos的元数据兼容欧洲数字图书馆数据模型（Europeana Data Model，EDM）标准，可实现与欧洲数字图书馆的平台互操作。同时，Pergamos还提供开放的REST/JSON应用程序编程接口（API），以支持第三方硬件的互操作对接。
